Dampak Pembangunan Icon Bali Mall Terhadap Aspek Sosial Ekonomi Pedagang di Kawasan Pariwisata Sanur, Desa Adat Intaran, Kota Denpasar, Bali

Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the impact of the Icon Bali Mall development on the socio-economic aspects of traders in the Sanur Tourism Area, Intaran Customary Village, Denpasar City. The research employs a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, combining quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to 30 traders at Pasar Pantai Sindhu, while qualitative data were collected via interviews, observations, documentation, and literature review. Purposive sampling was used to select study respondents. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using the Likert Scale and processed with SPSS software, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively.

The results indicate that community responses to the Icon Bali Mall development are dominated by euphoria (mean score 2.98), reflecting positive acceptance, albeit entering the annoyance stage (score 2.67) due to traffic congestion and noise disturbances. The community acknowledges increased income and economic activities in the mall’s surrounding area, although the acceleration of local employment opportunities is perceived as suboptimal. The mall also positively contributes to local entrepreneurs, especially small businesses and traditional markets nearby. The community has not experienced significant increases in living costs or criminality, and cultural values remain preserved despite environmental challenges. Overall, Icon Bali Mall is well received and considered capable of providing positive social and economic contributions, although there still needs to be strategies to manage negative impacts so that its benefits can be felt more maximally by the local community.
