Epilepsy is the most common neurological disease in the world. Treatment with antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) is important to achieve optimal quality of life. Non-adherence with medication consumption is known to contribute to increased mortality and morbidity rates in epilepsy patients due to uncontrolled seizures. This study aims to determine the association between drug consumption adherence and seizure control in epilepsy patients at the Neurology Policlinic at Sanjiwani Regional Hospital. This research is a cross-sectional analytical study. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling with a measuring instrument in the form of the MMAS- 8 questionnaire. Statistical tests carried out included univariate analysis, chi-square, and binary logistic regression. The results of the study found that the majority of participants had uncontrolled seizures (57.8%) and high level of medication adherence (50%). In the chi-square analysis, a significant association was obtained between drug consumption adherence and participants’ seizure control. In addition, adherence to medication consumption had a dominant influence compared to other variables in binary logistic regression analysis (p=0,017; AOR=12,83, CI 95% 1,57-104,51). This study concludes there is a significant association between adherence to OAE consumption and seizure control. Patients who have low adherence have a 12,83 times greater chance of experiencing uncontrolled seizures than medium-high adherence. However, this result lacks precision seen from the wide confidence interval value.
