The Description of Hip and Waist Ratio of Breast Cancer Patients at RSUP Prof. Dr. I G.N.G. Ngoerah

Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is a type of cancer that grows and develops in the breast due to cells that grow abnormally. Statistically, it is showed that obesity is a risk factor for breast cancer, where the hip and waist ratio is closely related to obesity in humans. Objective: To determine hip and waist ratio of breast cancer patients at RSUP Prof. Dr. I G.N.G. Ngoerah. Method: This research is descriptive observational with a cross-sectional type. The data was collected by recording the hip and waist ratio of breast cancer patients treated at the Surgical Oncology Polyclinic at RSUP Prof. Dr. I G.N.G. Ngoerah in April – June 2023 with a target of 30 samples. Research results: Breast cancer patients are dominated by those aged ≥40 years (80%), with the most common breast cancer subtype being Luminal A (27%), the highest frequency of chemotherapy being once (57%), body mass index tends to be normal (70%), and the hip and waist rasio being low-risk (73%). Conclusion: The description of the hip and waist ratio of breast cancer patients at RSUP Prof. Dr. I G.N.G. Ngoerah is low-risk (<0.85) in 22 samples (73%) and high-risk (≥0.85) in 8 samples (27%).
