Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of single candidates in the 2024 Ciamis Regional Election, which risks reducing voter engagement. The study aims to analyze the forms of political participation in Kawali Village using the theories of Michael Rush and Philip Althoff. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews. The results show that participation is dominated by conventional-procedural forms such as voting, with a turnout rate of 79.7%. Critical participation, such as substantive discussions and protests, is relatively low. In conclusion, the high quantitative participation is more influenced by sociological factors and patronage mobilization than independent political awareness.
