Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Anestesi dan Terapi Intensif (JATI) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. Plagiarism, in any form, is considered a serious violation of ethical publishing standards.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, figures, or data from another source without proper citation.

  • Reproducing substantial portions of another work, whether published or unpublished.

  • Paraphrasing another’s work without adequate acknowledgement.

  • Self-plagiarism, defined as the reuse of one’s own previously published work without disclosure or proper citation.

Plagiarism Screening

  • All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism detection using Turnitin software.

  • Manuscripts with a reasonable similarity index (excluding references and commonly used phrases) will be returned to authors for revision or may be rejected upon submission.

  • Editors may request a detailed explanation from authors if significant overlap is detected.

Handling of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is confirmed at any stage of the editorial process or after publication, the following actions may be taken depending on the severity:

  1. Minor overlap (e.g. short phrases, methodological descriptions): Authors will be requested to revise and correct the text.

  2. Moderate plagiarism (e.g. copied paragraphs without citation): Manuscript will be rejected and authors may be prohibited from submitting for a period of time.

  3. Severe plagiarism (e.g. verbatim copying of large portions, or presenting others’ work as one’s own): Immediate rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published article, with notification sent to the authors’ institutions and relevant authorities.

Post-Publication Plagiarism

If plagiarism is identified in a published article:

  • The journal will publish a retraction notice in accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines.

  • The original article may be watermarked as Retracted but will remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are free of plagiarism and must properly cite all sources. By submitting a manuscript, authors acknowledge and agree to this policy.
