AI USAGE POLICY
Acta Comitas: Jurnal Hukum Kenotariatan implements a policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure accountability, integrity, and human responsibility in manuscript preparation, editorial processes, and peer review.
This policy applies to authors, the Editorial Team, and Peer Reviewers, and is guided by the principles of authorship, human responsibility, and the appropriate use of AI-based tools, as set forth in the following guidelines: COPE Position Statement: Authorship and AI Tools .
Use of AI by Authors
- Authors may use AI tools as supporting tools in preparing their articles, provided that such use is carried out responsibly and transparently and remains under the authors’ full supervision and responsibility.
- AI tools, including generative AI, large language models (LLMs), chatbots, and similar applications, may not be credited or listed as authors or co-authors, as responsibility and accountability for scholarly work remain with human authors.
- Each author must transparently disclose whether AI was used in preparing the article. If AI was used, the author must identify the tool used and explain the purpose and nature of its use in an AI Usage Statement.
- The use of AI must not replace the author’s scholarly judgment, intellectual contribution, or responsibility for the substance of the article.
- AI must not be used to generate, fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or otherwise alter data, research results, documentation, information, or references that cannot be verified or that do not correspond to the actual research conducted.
- Authors must thoroughly review and verify all AI-generated outputs before incorporating them into the article, including the accuracy of facts, validity of references, interpretation, language, and other information.
- Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, validity, integrity, references, and ethical compliance of the entire article, including any sections prepared or revised with the assistance of AI.
Use of AI by the Editorial Team
- The Editorial Team is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of manuscripts, data, identities, correspondence, review results, and all other information obtained in the course of the editorial process.
- The Editorial Team must not use AI to replace scholarly judgment, substantive assessment, or editorial decision-making concerning a manuscript.
- Decisions regarding manuscript acceptance, requests for revision, or rejection must be made by the Editorial Team based on human judgment, taking into consideration the academic quality of the manuscript, reviewer recommendations, conformity with the journal’s Focus and Scope, manuscript integrity, and applicable editorial policies.
- The Editorial Team must not enter or upload all or any part of an unpublished manuscript, data, tables, figures, supporting documents, correspondence, or other confidential information into an AI application where such action may result in the disclosure or transfer of confidential information, personal data, or intellectual property rights to unauthorized parties.
Use of AI by Peer Reviewers
Peer Reviewers are not permitted to use AI tools during the Peer Review Process. All peer review activities must be conducted independently based on the reviewer’s expertise, competence, and scholarly judgment.
