Publication Ethics

Jurnal Anestesiologi dan Terapi Intensif (JATI) requires that all research involving human participants or animals must comply with internationally accepted ethical standards. Authors must ensure that their research adheres to ethical principles and applicable institutional and national regulations.

Research Involving Human Participants

When reporting studies involving human participants, authors must indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation (institutional, regional, national, or independent ethics committee) and with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.

For prospective studies involving human participants, authors must clearly state that:

  • Approval has been obtained from an appropriate Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB).

  • Written informed consent has been obtained from all adult research participants.

  • For research involving children, assent must be obtained from participants aged over 7 years in addition to consent from parents or legal guardians.

Authors must ensure the confidentiality and privacy of research participants. Identifying information such as names, initials, or hospital numbers must not be disclosed, particularly in figures, photographs, or other illustrative materials.

Details of ethical approval, including the name of the ethics committee and approval number, must be clearly stated in the Materials and Methods section of the manuscript.

Research Involving Animals

When reporting experiments involving animals, authors must indicate whether the institutional or national guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals were followed.

Animal experimental procedures must be conducted in a humane manner. Authors should provide clear details regarding the anesthetic and analgesic procedures used to minimize animal suffering.

The ethical standards for animal experimentation must comply with the guidelines provided by the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals and other relevant national or international standards for animal research.

Evidence of approval from a local Ethics Committee or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee must be provided by the authors upon request.

Ethical Compliance

The journal will not consider any manuscript that does not comply with ethical standards for research involving human participants or animals.

All research articles must include a clear statement regarding:

  • Ethical approval

  • Informed consent (when applicable)

  • Ethical conduct of the study

This information must be included in the Materials and Methods section of the manuscript.
